From legacy systems to a seamless Shopify storefront

Johnstone’s is a go-to destination in Vancouver for BBQ parts, grills, and expert advice. A local favorite for decades, they needed an online store that could match the trust and quality they’re known for in person. But their existing system was outdated, difficult to manage, and didn’t work well on mobile. It was time to bring the heat.

The legacy site lacked the speed and clarity that today’s users expect. Its design made finding and purchasing products a challenge.

We partnered with the Johnstone’s team to move their store onto a fresh, modern Shopify theme. The process included migrating data from a legacy platform and writing custom sync tools to ensure products, inventory, and categories stayed up to date and organized. We focused on creating a seamless back-end setup that supported their staff while giving shoppers a faster, more intuitive path to find exactly what they need.

The new theme was designed with mobile shoppers in mind. Clean navigation, simplified layouts, and strong product visuals helped make the site easier to browse from any device—just in time for grilling season.
